Armstrong's August Happenings

It has been too long since my first entry.  Sorry for the delay.  We have been busy lately.  Sonny and I joined a MOMS club this month so we've been enjoying activities with other stay-at-home moms and their kids.  We have been to a fish hatchery and to the UW Geology Museum.  We've also hung out with the group at the splash park and the coffee shop.  Playgroups are starting in September and I've been asked to head one up.  How do you organize a playgroup?  I'll get back to you on that one.

My nephew, Wesley, spent a weekend with us a few weeks ago.  Ben's sister, Amy and  her husband, Rich went to NY to visit his twin brother.  He and his wife just had a bab

ayed trucks, played hard at the park and even enjoyed a bike ride over to the UW Union Terrace to eat a picnic dinner and watch the sunset that Saturday night with Hannah who lives in downtown Madison.

We just returned home from a week at the farmhouse in Douglas, MI with Ben's extended family.  His Grandma Ruthie had a huge 90th Birthday Bash on August 16th with dinner and dancing.  Sonny can really shake a leg on the dance floor.  The rest of the week was spent with Amy, Rich, Wesley and Ben's parents.  We had a great time at the beach, in the pool and on the boat. And take Sonny's word for it...the boat is a great place to take a nap! 

As most of you know, we affectionately call Sonny our "Little Chris Farley".  He's always got some funny stunt up his sleeve.  He loves to show off his acrobatic skills on our leather lounge chair, but the funniest thing I think he's done lately is simply to come around the corner, look up at you with a smile and say, "Hi Momma, what's up?"  I don't have any idea where that came from but it's pretty darn cute!

We're finally one big family again!  The drive up to WI was actually easier than expected it to be.  It was just an endless DVD-playing fest.  Sonny was so excited to see Ben when we arrived (as was I, of course).  

Our new apartment is very similar to our Atlanta condo.  Although it's only 2 bed/1-3/4 baths, instead of our 3 bed/2 bath, it's only 100 sq. feet smaller, so Ben tells me.  It's been pretty easy to adjust to it.  The rooms are just bigger.  And we have a garage for one of our cars and a storage space, too.  Didn't have that in the ATL.  Sonny does miss our pool, though.

Sonny and I have made it through 4 days together so far with only 1 small casualty (cut to the swing picture to view his forehead injury).  We have taken several trips to the nearby parks.  There's a spray park a couple blocks down the street with a pond that houses a few ducks and a playground.  Across the street is a smaller park, but a little more fun for Sonny since his new favorite thing to do is to walk over there to watch the boats launch into the water.

We are working on finalizing a daily schedule for the 2 of us.  Of course, I'm not one to get excited if we eat lunch a little later or skip an activity, but I am still figuring out all of Sonny's cues to see what we need to do next.  I know it's never going to be a final schedule, but getting one established is hard enough, I've found.
